Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin will be put away till next season and NOT run in the upcoming Punchestown Festival – according to his trainer Gavin Cromwell.
Inothewayurthinkin Will Have A Longer Summer Break and WON’T Run At The Punchestown Festival
Gold Cup winning-trainer Gavin Cromwell has come out this week to confirm his star chaser Inothewayurthinkin won’t head to the Punchestown Festival later this month.
However, his trainer is saying “all roads lead to the 2026 Gold Cup” and connections have decided to pull up stumps on any further plans this season.
The JP McManus-owned 7 year-old lowered the colours of two-time Gold Cup winner Galopin Des Champs at last month’s Cheltenham Festival and is very much the new star of the staying chase division.
With age on his side, and an array of options next season, it’s clear that Cromwell and co don’t want to overdo it with Inothewayurthinkin and will give him an extended summer break – with the 2026 Cheltenham Gold Cup his big target next term.
What Price Is Inothewayurthinkin For The 2026 Cheltenham Gold Cup?
He’s been put in with the layers as the 5/1 Gold Cup favourite – just a point ahead of fellow JP horse Fact To File. With the 2024 champ Galopin Des Champs next best at 8/1.
Inothewayurthinkin is now expected to head off to JP McManus’ Martinstown Stud in Limerick for his summer break.
Trainer Gavin Cromwell Said
“He’s gone home. We decided that he’s a young horse, it’s unbelievable what he achieved this year. Next year, all roads will lead to the Gold Cup again.”
“Looking at the long-range forecast, we just thought we’d mind him and next year all roads will lead towards the Gold Cup again.”

When Is The 2025 Punchestown Festival?
The 2025 Punchestown Festival runs for five days.
This year starting on Tuesday 29th April and running till Saturday 3rd May.
