Manchester City star Jack Grealish could be heading to Bayer Leverkusen as a replacement for Florian Wirtz.

The out-of-favour winger has reportedly accepted he has no future at the Etihad.

As a result, top teams across Europe have started jostling for position in order to secure his signature.

But it appears Jack Grealish’s next club could well be Bayer Leverkusen.

Jack Grealish To Replace Wirtz At Bayer Leverkusen?

That’s because the Bundesliga outfit are in need of a replacement for star man Florian Wirtz.

The 22-year-old German is expected to leave Leverkusen imminently, with Liverpool the widely reported probable destination.

Arne Slot’s side are in advanced negotiations for Wirtz, who could become the Premier League’s record signing.

The Reds saw a £113 million bid rejected last week, but are expected to return with an even bigger offer.

This would give Leverkusen manager, former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, a huge budget to spend on a replacement.

And according to The Sun, Grealish is said to be top of the wish list.

Sources close to the player have informed the publication that he is interested in a move overseas.

Jack Grealish Next Club Possibilities

But while Leverkusen are one option, there are plenty of possibilities for Jack Grealish’s next club.

At 29, the player still has plenty of years left at the top level.

Within the Premier League, Newcastle and Tottenham are both monitoring his situation.

And there are rumours of a possible romantic return to boyhood club Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Italian champions Napoli have also been heavily linked with Grealish.

Erik ten Hag A Big Jack Grealish Fan

According to reports, Leverkusen boss Ten Hag is a huge admirer of Grealish.

He is of course familiar with the England international’s quality, having managed against him while at rivals Man United.

City are thought to be looking for around £40 million in order to sell Grealish.

However, his massive wage demands may be a problem for any club, unless he is willing to take a significant pay cut.

Newcastle United were said to be keen on a loan signing earlier this season, but were put off by the requirement to front Grealish’s full £300,000 per week salary.

Why Is Jack Grealish Not Playing For England?

A big driver in any Jack Grealish transfer is the player’s desire to regain a place in the England squad.

Looking ahead to next summer’s World Cup, Grealish will be desperate to be involved.

But Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel has made it clear he needs to see Grealish playing week-in-week-out in order to reconsider his selection.

Tuchel is said to be a big admirer of Grealish, but has expressed his firm belief on picking players on form over reputation.

Jack Grealish Stats

Predominantly a left winger, Jack Grealish has also operated through the middle and on the right throughout his career.

Starting off at Aston Villa, he made 213 senior appearances, scoring 32 goals and providing 43 assists.

In August 2021, he joined Manchester City for a record-breaking £100 million.

He has since scored 17 goals and provided 23 assists in 157 games for Pep Guardiola’s team.
