Kevin De Bruyne has insisted that his main focus is on getting back to his best form rather than his long-term future at Manchester City.

The 33-year-old has entered the final six months of his deal at City. De Bruyne has been linked with a move away in the summer.

But while he is now free to negotiate a deal with a foreign club, De Bruyne could still sign an extension with the champions.

The Belgian maestro has struggled with injuries in recent months but has since returned to City’s starting lineups to help them win their last two games.

But his future remains a hot topic given the calibre of player City could end up losing.

Kevin De Bruyne: I Don’t Care About My Man City Future

Following Man City’s thumping 4-1 win over West Ham, Kevin De Bruyne was asked about his contract negotiations.

And in a rather blunt fashion, De Bruyne said: “I don’t care. I am just trying to get back to my level.

“I feel like every week I’m getting better. Fitness wise I’m getting better and able to run 90 minutes now.

“It’s been an uncomfortable couple of months with the injury but I am getting better, performing better and better so that’s it.”

Pep Guardiola: De Bruyne’s Contract Isn’t My Business

De Bruyne’s comments come just 24 hours after Guardiola admitted that he wasn’t thinking about De Bruyne’s contract talks.

“He had problems in the last year and year and half,” Guardiola said.

“But, of course, when he’s consistent and fit and when he can play regularly I said many times, he’s a really important player for us. A decisive player. But it’s going to happen for the club and how he’s going to perform until the end of the season, the age he is at and many things. I think the club has to think about it.”
