As rumours continue to persist around his Manchester City future, who would make the ideal Kevin De Bruyne replacement?

The Belgian superstar is out of contract this summer and reports indicate MLS clubs and Saudi Pro League sides are interested in luring him away from Europe.

A move to either league would prove highly lucrative for De Bruyne. The 33-year-old would be offered huge wages to end his 10-year City association.

Here at SportsCasting, we’ve identified four players who could potentially make a fine addition for Pep Guardiola’s side if KDB doesn’t extend his Etihad stay.

Kevin De Bruyne Replacement – Who Could Fill The Void?

Charles De Ketelaere – Atalanta

Fellow attacking midfielder and Belgian international Charles de Ketelaere has recently been linked with Man City. The 6’4″ star has sparkled for Atalanta this season.

De Ketelaere has 22 goal contributions to his name across all competitions. Aged 23, the Red Devil certainly has his best years ahead of him.

With that in mind, he won’t come cheap. Nine of his goals/assists have come in the new-look UEFA Champions League format and it’ll likely cost upwards of £60 million to tempt the Serie A side into negotiations.

Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace and England star Eberechi Eze has established himself as one of the Premier League‘s finest players since moving to Selhurst Park in 2020.

Cool, calm, slick and with an eye for a killer pass and goal, Eze could make a fine Kevin De Bruyne replacement. Subsequently, the 26-year-old would become a fans-favourite at the Etihad with said attributes.

However, Eze doesn’t have any European experience. Nonetheless, that shouldn’t deter City. Especially as he has a very affordable release clause of £68 million which will reactivate in the coming months.

Jamal Musiala – Bayern Munich

Despite penning a new Bayern Munich contract on Friday, Jamal Musiala will continue to be linked with a move to Man City. Nonetheless, it’ll cost mega bucks to buy him.

Bayern reportedly added a £145.5 million release clause into his new bumper deal. That will be active between this summer and 2029.

Depending on the outcome of City’s 115 FFP charges in March, a move for Musiala for that fee may not be out of the realms of possibility. This is definitely one to keep an eye on.

Florian Wirtz – Bayer Leverkusen

Reports emerging on February 18 revealed that Germany superstar Florian Wirtz has come on to Manchester City’s radar. And what a fine Kevin De Bruyne replacement he would be.

The Bayer Leverkusen star was instrumental in the club’s title-winning side last season. Wirtz’s stock also increased massively after his Euro 2024 exploits.

Aged 21, Wirtz is easily one of the hottest properties in Europe. During his short career, he has netted 56 goals and provided 62 assists in all competitions. Leverkusen would likely demand a fee in the region of £90-110 million.
