Kobbie Mainoo Transfer news

Man United have been hit with a Kobbie Mainoo contract bombshell with the Red Devils star set to reject the club’s offer of improved terms.

That’s according to the Guardian, who also suggest the midfield ace is seeking a move away from the Premier League at the end of the season.

Mainoo has two years left on his current deal at Old Trafford. However, the England international is likely to be moved on to help with United’s precarious financial situation.

As it stands, Mainoo currently pockets £20,000-per-week but was reportedly looking for a new salary of £180,000-per-week. That didn’t include bonuses.

Now, the Stockport-born player looks set to leave M16 which will help Ruben Amorim fund new signings. It’s understood that United will entertain bids for Mainoo around the £70 million mark.

The 19-year-old’s potential transfer fee would provide a welcome boost to the hierarchy. Mainoo is a homegrown academy player so all the funds would be classed as profit.

Kobbie Mainoo Contract Offer Set To Be Rejected

Although there are monetary benefits, if Kobbie Mainoo rejects the new contract offer and is sold, it really won’t go down too well with the Man United faithful.

Especially as Mainoo has been one of the Red Devils better players in recent seasons. The 10-cap England international made his United debut aged just 17 in 2023.

His all-action displays and mature performances have seen him become a huge fans favourite at Old Trafford. Mainoo even starred for the Three Lions during last summer’s Euro 2024 tournament.

The central midfielder has six goals and four assists to his name across 60 United appearances in all competitions. His 2024/25 campaign has been hit by injuries and he has missed the last five games owing to his latest setback.

At the time of writing, no clubs have inquired about Mainoo but Europe’s elite will all be on red alert. A move to the continent could really suit Mainoo. Similar to fellow international teammates Angel Gomes, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham.

For now, only time will tell about Mainoo’s contract situation. He’ll be watching on as United face Arsenal this Sunday. The best football betting sites in the UK have all the latest markets and odds ahead of the clash at Old Trafford.
