Liverpool have reportedly agreed a £130 million deal for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, which would make him the most expensive deadline day transfer in history.
The summer transfer window closes at 7:00 PM BST on Monday, September 1, 2025.
Isak is determined to join Liverpool this summer. To try and force his move, he has neither participated in pre-season nor featured for Newcastle in the Premier League.
Without him, the Toons have dropped points in all three of their matches. They are now 9/2 with football betting sites to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool Agree to Pay £130m for Isak
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed Liverpool have finally found the breakthrough in the pursuit of Alexander Isak. The Reds have reportedly agreed to pay £130 million for the Swedish forward, having agreed personal terms with him months ago.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Romano wrote:
“Alexander Isak to Liverpool, here we go! Deal agreed now for £130m transfer fee.
“Record move for Premier League. Isak, on his way today for medical tests as new Liverpool player after long term deal agreed months ago. It was always ONLY Liverpool for Isak.”

Last week, Newcastle United stated that they were disappointed with Isak’s behaviour and did not see any club meeting their asking price. Liverpool had tabled offers in the region of £110 million, but Newcastle were holding out for a higher fee.
Isak to Become the Most Expensive Deadline Day Transfer
Granted, there are no hiccups in medical formalities, Alexander Isak’s transfer to Liverpool will see him break a couple of records. Firstly, he will become the most expensive transfer in British football history, surpassing Florian Wirtz.
The Reds signed the German playmaker from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer for a reported £116 million fee. Wirtz, however, has yet to find his footing and saw his FPL price drop ahead of Gameweek 3. Since Isak has already been thriving in the Premier League, there is little chance of him facing the same difficulties as his would-be teammate.
Who would have thought Isak and Van Dijk could end up on the same team when this happened? 😅

Isak will also become the most expensive deadline day transfer of all time. Gareth Bale had been holding on to the record since 2013, having joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur for £85.1 million (€100.8 million).
As a result of the Isak transfer, this has also helped the Liverpool Premier League outright betting odds shorten. The Reds are now the clear 6/5 favourites to land their 21st English top-flight title.
