Bryan Mbeumo is a Man Utd Transfer Target

Manchester United are reportedly confident of beating Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.

Initially, Man Utd were the runaway leaders in the pursuit of Mbeumo. Now, Tottenham, who beat the Red Devils in the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League final, have emerged as strong contenders.

Man Utd Confident of Signing Bryan Mbeumo Despite Tottenham Advantage

After finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing all three cup competitions, Man Utd will not be in Europe next season. Spurs, meanwhile, will be one of the 36 teams competing in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Additionally, Tottenham Hotspur have brought in Thomas Frank from Brentford. With Frank at the helm, Tottenham have every right to fancy their chances of signing the manager’s former star striker.

However, despite Tottenham’s double boost, Man Utd reportedly believe they will get their man this summer. According to Samuel Luckhurst, Man Utd’s confidence is fueled by Bryan Mbeumo’s desire to play for the club. The 25-year-old has reportedly told his close friends and family that he only wants to play for United.

Earlier in June, Man Utd submitted a £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons bid for Mbeumo. Brentford, one of the bookies’ favourites to go down in the 2025/26 season, turned the offer down. Man Utd are reportedly preparing a £70 million bid to seal the Mbeumo deal.

Bryan Mbeumo Hails Thomas Frank Amid Manchester United-Tottenham Transfer Battle

While Man Utd are reportedly confident of getting their striker, it is clear that Bryan Mbeumo has a soft corner for Thomas Frank. Attending the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, Mbeumo praised the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, Frank, and showed gratitude for giving him a chance.

He’s done so much for me,” Man Utd transfer target Mbeumo told Sky Sports.

He literally trusted me from the start [at Brentford] and he developed the team so well. He developed me as a human and a player so much as well.

Mbeumo then wished Frank luck, backing him to succeed at Tottenham.

I can only wish him all the best, and I’m sure he’s going to do well. He knows everything; he’s really smart and knows what he wants to bring the team, how he wants them to play. He’s been fantastic for Brentford.”

Mbeumo joined Brentford from Troyes in August 2019. In six years, he played 242 games under Frank, scoring 70 goals. The 2024/25 Premier League season was by far his best campaign, as he scored 20 goals for the Bees in 38 games.
