Manchester United are set to battle crosstown rivals Manchester City for the services of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. With Chelsea also in the running for the European champion stopper.
The Italian goalkeeper is expected to leave Paris this summer, with the Premier League looking the most likely destination.
According to sources, the Parisians are seeking a fee of just £26 million for a Donnarumma transfer, as he is in the final year of his contract.
PSG Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Disappointed with UEFA Super Cup Snub
Former AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma produced some fine performances as PSG won the Treble in the 2024/25 season. On the back of their first Champions League triumph, Les Parisiens are eligible to compete in the UEFA Super Cup.
Donnarumma, however, will play no part, as Luis Enrique has kept him off the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur on August 13.
Additionally, with Lucas Chevalier joining the club for £47 million over the weekend, the 26-year-old is reportedly on borrowed time.
Shedding light on the Donnarumma saga, Fabrizio Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Gigio Donnarumma, disappointed after not having the chance to be part of PSG squad for the Supercup.
“He’s expected to clarify his position after PSG decision after no agreement over new deal + Lucas Chevalier joining.”
He concluded: “Gigio, 100% leaving the club.”

Odds Suggest Man Utd Will Battle Man City and Chelsea for the Donnarumma Transfer
Following the UEFA Super Cup snub, the odds of Gianluigi Donnarumma staying at PSG have drifted further on UK betting sites. At the time of writing, he is only 10/1 to continue with the Parisians.
Meanwhile, the chances of him moving to Manchester have shot up, with Man Utd and Man City emerging as the two frontrunners. While the Red Devils have been on the market to find a replacement for Andre Onana, the Cityzens’ charge comes as a surprise. They recently re-signed James Trafford from Burnley, despite Newcastle United holding talks for the goalkeeper.
Chelsea struggled with the goalkeeping situation last season. This year, they are looking for stability and consistency.
After selling Djordje Petrovic, Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez are their options in goal. However, they are keeping an eye out for market opportunities.
