Not only did the Brazilian make some vital saves to help City pick up three points, but Ederson also contributed with an incredible assist for the opening goal.
Rico Lewis – 6
Not a spectacular performance from the City starlet by any means, but Lewis was a calming presence throughout and rarely misplaced a pass.
Abdukodir Khusanov – 6.5
After a nightmare debut against Chelsea, the 20-year-old appeared to be more comfortable against Newcastle and helped keep Alexander Isak quiet.
John Stones – 7
City fans will be pleased to see Stones making consecutive appearances and the Englishman was solid for 90 minutes.
Joško Gvardiol – 6
Was key in halting a Newcastle attack that has caused problems throughout the campaign and almost registered an assist in the opening 20 minutes.
Nico Gonzalez – 7.5
Making his Premier League debut against one of the most physical and relentless midfield threes should not be easy – but Nico Gonzalez made it look simple and looks like the ideal Rodri understudy.
İlkay Gündoğan – 7
Nico Gonzalez did not do it alone however, as Ilkay Gundogan showed signs of the player that helped City win the treble back in 2023.
Savinho – 7.5
The Brazilian pulled out all the party-tricks in this one and showed flashes of brilliance, while also contributing with an assist.
Omar Marmoush – 10
After failing to score in his first four appearances across all competitions, Marmoush delivered in style by scoring a superb hat-trick to guide his side to victory.
Phil Foden – 6.5
A surprisingly quiet afternoon from the 2023/24 PFA Player of the Year, created some chances but never really got into the match.
Erling Haaland – 6
It’s rare that a Manchester City player scores a hat-trick and their name is not Erling Haaland, but the Norwegian was out shined by Marmoush – with Haaland offering very little throughout.

There was not a lot that Martin Dubravka could have done for City’s goals, however, conceding this number of goals is never a good sign for a goalie’s performance.
Kieran Trippier – 4
The former Manchester City player struggled to deal with City’s threat on the flanks and was substituted at half time – Trippier was also out muscled heavily by Marmoush for the opening goal.
Fabian Schär – 5
As a whole the Newcastle defence struggled at the Etihad and were blown away in the opening 45, as Fabian Schar struggled to deal with City’s pace.
Dan Burn – 5
Similarly to his defensive partner, Burn struggled with Manchester City’s dynamism in attack and could only foul the likes of Foden, Marmoush and Savinho,
Lewis Hall – 5.5
Continued to run up and down the left hand side for 90 minutes but failed to deliver anything of note and was fairly timid in defence.
Bruno Guimarães – 6
We expect a solid performance from Bruno Guimaraes due to his consistency in a Newcastle shirt, however, the Brazilian was off the pace today and sloppy on the ball.
Sandro Tonali – 6
We could say the same thing about Tonali as we did about Guimaraes, an uncharacteristically poor performance from the Italian.
Joe Willock – 5
Being taken off at half time is a disappointing reality for any player but Willock could have no complaints as he was a passenger at times.
Jacob Murphy – 5.5
Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have received the majority of praise for Newcastle’s attacking threat but Murphy has been a pivotal member throughout the season. However the winger could not get going against City and failed to contribute much in attack.
Alexander Isak – 5
Newcastle played and Alexander Isak did not score? A strangely quiet afternoon for the Swede and highlights how his performance level makes or breaks Newcastle.
Anthony Gordon – 5
Gordon huffed and puffed to find a breakthrough, but the speedster could not make his mark and was well tamed by the City defence.
