Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed Mateo Kovacic will miss three to four weeks of action due to injury.

The 30-year-old midfielder picked up the injury during the international break with Croatia.

During Croatia’s 1-1 draw with Portugal, Kovacic picked up the muscle injury and was substituted at half-time.

And now Guardiola has confirmed that the injury Kovacic picked up will see him miss up to a month’s worth of action.

“It will be a while [until he’s back],” Guardiola said. “Three weeks or a month.”

Mateo Kovacic’s Injury Adds To Manchester City’s Mounting Issues

Manchester City are in the middle of an injury crisis, with Ballon d’Or winner Rodri set to miss the whole season.

Rodri’s season-ending ACL injury has left a huge whole in their squad. City have struggled in his absence, losing four games on the bounce in all competitions – the first time they have done so under Guardiola.

In an attempt to fill the Rodri-shaped hole, Mateo Kovacic stepped up in the Spaniard’s absence.

Guardiola will now have to cope without two key midfielders going into one of the busiest periods of the football calendar.

Man City Looking To Stop The Rot Against Tottenham

Man City welcome Tottenham to the Etihad on Saturday evening as Pep Guardiola looks to end his four-game losing streak.

It was a defeat by Spurs that kick-started the run and now Guardiola will be out to end it with a win against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
