Liverpool scouts witnessed transfer target Yan Diomande score an impressive hat-trick on the same day Mo Salah threw his future in major doubt.

Salah hit out at manager Arne Slot on Saturday in an explosive interview following the 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Saudi Arabia club Al-Ittihad are the favourites to sign Salah during the January transfer window after the 33-year-old suggested he was being made a scapegoat.

It appears they may have already found his successor after reportedly watching target Diomande in action for RB Leipzig.

His potential was on show as the 19-year-old winger scored three goals in the club’s 6-0 thrashing of Bundesliga rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.

It took his goal tally to six in his last six matches with RB Leipzig sitting second in the German top flight.

Can Yan Diomande replace Mo Salah?

Diomande became the second youngest player to score a hat-trick in Bundesliga history at the weekend, just 22 days after his 19th birthday.

A hugely talented prospect, reports claim Liverpool had scouts in attendance to witness the Ivorian help dismantle a strong Eintracht Frankfurt side.

He plays on both flanks, but has featured 10 times on the right wing in 15 appearances this season.

All of his goal involvements have come on the right, hitting the target seven times while assisting a further four.

Salah’s likely departure is going to leave a huge gap on Liverpool’s right side, and it’s an area they will have to address in the transfer window.

Dominik Szoboszlai has filled the void in Liverpool’s previous two matches, and despite breaking a transfer record by spending £446million in the summer, the club lack a natural right winger.

Antoine Semenyo is one player who has been heavily linked since his £60million release clause came to the surface.

However, the former Bristol City winger’s strongest position is on the left.

Diomande is lightning quick. His 35.98 km/h top speed clocked this season is the third fastest in the league, while his three Man of the Match awards can only be bettered by Harry Kane.

His average of 2.8 successful dribbles per game is also unrivalled and evidence that he enjoys a similar playing style to Salah.

How much would Diomande cost?

Diomande only joined RB Leipzig on a five-year deal this summer after the club activated a €20million release clause in his Leganes contract.

Therefore, they remain in a very healthy position should Liverpool come calling, particularly with the added knowledge of Salah’s impending departure.

There are rumours that it would take a bid of around €88m for RB Leipzig to consider accepting, which could be funded by a huge Saudi bid for Salah.

It was only two years ago when Liverpool rejected a £150million offer, and while his value has somewhat depreciated given his form and age, his transfer fee will remain sky high.
