Alexander Isak Went on Instagram to Talk About Broken Promises

Newcastle United fans have applauded the club for their firm response to Alexander Isak’s explosive Instagram post. 

Amid links to Liverpool, Newcastle United clarified they did not foresee Isak leaving in the last two weeks of the summer transfer window.

Despite the Magpies’ strong response, Liverpool are still 8/11 favourites with football betting sites to sign Isak.

Isak Talks About Broken Promises Via Instagram Post

On Tuesday, Alexander Isak was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024/25. Isak, however, was not present to accept the award. In his Instagram post, he explained why he chose to skip the ceremony.

On Instagram, Isak talked about broken promises and said it was best for both parties to part ways.

“I’m not at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn’t feel right to be there,” wrote Isak.

“I’ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn’t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.”

He continued:

“The reality is that promises were made, and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.”

“When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue. That’s where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.”

‘Disappointed’ – Newcastle United Responds to Isak Post

Late on Tuesday, Newcastle United dropped a strong-worded response to Alexander Isak’s Instagram post. The club clarified that they had not made any promises and were expecting their star striker to return to training.

“We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening,” the statement read.

“We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.”

It continued:

“We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes, and we listen to their views. As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions, and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired.

“We do not foresee those conditions being met.“

It concluded, stating:

“This is a proud football club with proud traditions, and we strive to retain our family feel. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.“

Fans Applaud Newcastle’s Stance on Isak Transfer Situation

Fans are impressed with Newcastle United’s response to Alexander Isak’s Instagram post. From blaming Liverpool for stirring the pot to calling out Isak’s behaviour, the comment section on X (Twitter) had it all.

@City_Chief wrote:

“Newcastle deserve credit for standing firm on Isak

The real problem here is Liverpool trying to unsettle the player without putting £150m on the table. If you want him, pay the price, otherwise stop creating noise!”

@UpperDeckFC claimed Isak had been betrayed by Liverpool, who also signed Hugo Ekitike.

“If promises were made, I can see why Isak is doing this, and I understand him.

“But what I don’t get is, wouldn’t Isak be upset that Liverpool signed Ekitike too? If Liverpool promised him a move, why go for Ekitike as well? Wouldn’t that feel like a betrayal to Isak?”

@mancityhardcore proposed extreme measures to teach Isak a lesson.

Newcastle fan @Tonali_FPL said the club should have kept out the “family” part from their statement, as Isak had not earned it.

“Should have deleted last bit He needs to earn it.”

@TheCityPurse also supported Newcastle’s decision, saying no one was bigger than the club.

“Well done, Newcastle. Isak was unprofessional. Surely every club has a valuation for each player. If the valuation and conditions are met, the club will sell. No player is bigger than a club”
