Falkirk Manager John McGlynn Favourite To Get Aberdeen Top Job

John McGlynn

John McGlynn led Falkirk to the Scottish Championship title last season and earned plenty of plaudits in the process.

The 63-year-old has done a remarkable job with the Bairns, transforming them from a League One side into a Premiership club.

His success has not gone unnoticed by the Aberdeen board, who are known admirers of McGlynn.

The SportsCasting traders have installed McGlynn as the 5/2 favourite to become the next Dons manager.

Steven Naismith Among Frontrunners For Dons Job

Steven Naismith

Scotland assistant manager Steven Naismith has emerged as a contender for the Aberdeen managerial position.

Naismith is no stranger to the Scottish Premiership, having spent 17 months in charge at Hearts.

He’s particularly known for his work with young players, having played a key role in developing talent during his time with Hearts’ academy and B team.

SportsCasting traders have priced him at 4/1 to become the next Aberdeen manager — and he also features in the next Rangers manager market, where his name continues to draw interest.

Commentary: SportsCasting spokesman Shane Orton reacted to the ‘Aberdeen Manager Betting Odds’ saying:

“Although Jimmy Thelin remains in charge at Pittodrie, the betting market is already shaping up with some clear frontrunners. John McGlynn is currently the 5/2 favourite, thanks to his success with Falkirk, while Steven Naismith is priced at 4/1, with his Premiership experience and reputation for developing young players.”

“St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson, priced at 5/1, is also attracting attention and rounds out the three favourites. With each candidate offering different strengths, the market suggests Aberdeen’s next appointment could come from a range of promising options.”
