Next Chelsea Manager: Betting Odds, Top Candidates & Who Will Replace Liam Rosenior

Chelsea have sacked Liam Rosenior as first-team manager just four months after he was handed the job.

Rosenior, who replaced the dismissed Enzo Maresca in January, has paid the price for a dramatic collapse in form that has left the Stamford Bridge faithful increasingly restless.

Rosenior’s exit came a day after a humiliating defeat at Brighton, the latest blow in a run of seven losses in the Blues’ last eight Premier League games.

Most damagingly, Chelsea have gone five consecutive league games without scoring — a record that stretches all the way back to 1912, the year the Titanic sank.

Rosenior had reportedly hoped to survive until at least Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United at Wembley, but the club moved quickly and he will play no part in that tie.

Caretaker Calum McFarlane has been placed in temporary charge.

It is a painful fall from grace for Rosenior who came in with promise.

But the wheels came off spectacularly, and Chelsea’s ownership has shown once again it has little tolerance for stagnation.

Next Chelsea Manager Betting Odds: Who Are the Frontrunners?

The bookmakers have wasted no time in pricing up the race to be Chelsea’s next permanent manager.

Here are the leading candidates according to the latest odds:

Andoni Iraola — 7/4 Favourite

The Bournemouth manager has emerged as the early betting favourite.

Iraola’s intense, front-foot system would likely appeal to Chelsea’s young, energetic squad, and his outstanding work on the south coast has drawn admiring glances from some of English football’s biggest clubs.

The Basque coach has shown he can consistently outperform expectations with limited resources — though questions remain over whether his demanding approach can be sustained under the weight of expectation at a club like Chelsea.

Cesc Fàbregas — 10/3 Strong Contender

Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc FĂ bregas has been priced at 5/1 to take the Stamford Bridge job by William Hill.

Fàbregas is currently in charge of Como, where he has built one of the most impressive early managerial CVs in Europe — guiding the club to Serie A promotion, a top-half finish in their first season back, and then pushing them into European contention.

His teams play a possession-heavy, progressive style that would align well with Chelsea’s squad profile and long-term vision.

Filipe Luis — 10/3 The Dark Horse

Filipe LuĂs is currently without a club after a brief but eventful spell in charge of Flamengo, where he rose rapidly from the under-17s to first-team manager in 2024.

Despite his inexperience, he made an immediate impact, winning both the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Libertadores — becoming one of the few people to lift that trophy as both player and manager.

However, his tenure ended abruptly in early 2026, raising concerns around stability and long-term suitability at elite level.

He spent one season at Stamford Bridge as a player during Mourinho’s second spell, winning the Premier League and League Cup.

Diego Simeone — 12/1

The Atletico Madrid legend is among those linked, though landing the Argentine would be considered something of a coup.

His intense, combative style of management is a known quantity in European football, and Chelsea’s ownership has shown a willingness to pursue big names.

Oliver Glasner — 12/1

The former Crystal Palace manager, who has also been linked with other top jobs, is another name attracting attention in the betting markets.

Commentary: SportsCasting spokesman Matthew Bancroft reacted to the ‘Chelsea Manager Betting Odds’ saying:

“The decision to part ways with Liam Rosenior after just 106 days underscores the volatile nature of the current project at Stamford Bridge. Following five straight Premier League defeats, the markets have reacted sharply to the vacancy.

“Currently, our traders have identified Andoni Iraola as the 7/4 favorite to take the reins permanently this summer, especially following his announcement that he will leave Bournemouth. However, we are seeing significant movement for former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas at 11/2, whose work at Como has not gone unnoticed by the hierarchy.

“While club legend Frank Lampard remains a popular 10/1 outsider with the fans, the ownership’s preference for a data-driven, long-term appointment makes this one of the most unpredictable markets we’ve seen this season. ‘Captain, Leader, Legend’ John Terry’s chances, meanwhile, seem to be lower than a snake’s belly.
