Stats suggest that Nottingham Forest are set to enjoy a ‘new manager bounce’ following the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new manager.
Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new manager.
The Englishman has put pen to paper on a contract keeping him at the City Ground until 2027.
Dyche was favoured in the next Nottingham Forest manager betting odds market, pipping the likes of Roberto Mancini, Marco Silva, Brendan Rodgers and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to the job.
He replaces Ange Postecoglou in the role, with the former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic boss being sacked within 20 minutes of the Reds’ 3-0 loss to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
Postecoglou lasted just 39 days in charge of the club. In that time, he failed to win a single game, boasting a record of two draws and six defeats in eight matches across all competitions.
It leaves the East Midlands club in a lowly 18th place in the Premier League table, two points adrift of safety, while they are in 25th place in the Europa League table after a winless start.
Tasked with turning their season around both domestically and in Europe, the experienced Dyche has been earmarked as the man to take the club forward in this period of uncertainty.
His tenure gets underway on Thursday when Forest host FC Porto in the Europa League.
Following that, he and his new side travel down to the south coast to take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday before a home clash against Manchester United a week later.

Nottingham Forest Set For New Manager Bounce Under Sean Dyche
Dyche, a former Forest youth player, returns to the City Ground with a wealth of managerial experience in the Premier League, having managed Burnley and Everton in the division.
He also has experience in the second tier with the Clarets and Watford.
At all three clubs, Dyche has enjoyed strong starts to his respective tenures. This would suggest that Reds fans can expect to enjoy a ‘new manager bounce’ under the 54-year-old.
His teams are typically built on defensive organisation, employing a direct style of football centred around long balls, which many consider to be ‘negative’ in the modern game.
This style could benefit several members of Forest’s squad, with striker Chris Wood, who previously played under Dyche at Burnley, likely to profit the most from the managerial change.
The 6ft 3in New Zealand international should see an increased number of headed opportunities off the back of the switch, having endured an underwhelming start to the season thus far.
Sean Dyche’s Start at Watford
Having been appointed assistant manager at Watford in July 2009, Dyche was promoted to manager following the departure of Malky Mackay for Cardiff City in June 2011.
This was his first senior management role in football, and he masterminded a 2-2 draw away at Burnley in his first game. This was considered to be a strong result to kickstart the campaign.
They lost the following two matches against Derby County and West Ham but went unbeaten across four Championship matches between the fourth and seventh matchdays of the season.
Watford finished the season in 11th place in the second tier table, their best finish for four years.
A change in club ownership at the end of the campaign led to Dyche’s dismissal, however.
Sean Dyche’s Magical Burnley Days
After a brief spell with the England U21 national team as a member of their backroom staff in 2012, Dyche returned to senior football management after being appointed by Burnley.
He replaced Eddie Howe, who had departed Turf Moor to rejoin Bournemouth.
Prior to his arrival, the Clarets boasted the worst defensive record in the division. Bookmakers had earmarked the Lancashire club as one of the favourites to be relegated to League One.
However, Dyche made an instant impact. In his first game in charge, Burnley secured a 2-0 home win over Wolves. They followed that up with a narrow 1-0 win over Leeds United.
They went on to finish the season in 11th place, and in 2013-14, his first full season in charge of the club, the Clarets finished second and secured promotion back up to the Premier League.
This started a memorable 10-year spell with the club, during which they sealed Europa League qualification for the first time in over half a century after a seventh place finish in 2018-19.
Dyche Securing Everton’s Safety
Of course, Dyche’s most recent job was with Merseyside giants Everton between 2023 and 2025.
He was appointed in place of Frank Lampard, with the Toffees sitting in 19th place in the table.
Incredibly, Dyche inspired Everton to a 1-0 win over Arsenal, who sat at the top of the Premier League table at the time, in his first game in charge to endear himself to the Goodison faithful.
They followed that up with a 2-0 defeat by city rivals Liverpool in their next league match, however, but bounced back with a crucial 1-0 win over Leeds at home in the following week.
A strong end to the campaign saw Dyche save the club from demotion to the second tier, as they ended the season in 17th place, just two points clear of Leicester in the relegation zone.
