It has been confirmed that Sean O’Malley vs Song Yadong is being targeted for UFC 323 on December 6 in las Vegas in a bantamweight contest.
Although unconfirmed, it is being heavily rumoured that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion ‘Suga Sean’ is set to take on the #5 ranked Yadong this winter.
Sean O’Malley vs Song Yadong Officially Targeted For UFC 323
It is being strongly rumoured in the MMA world that Sean O’Malley will return before the end of the year in a tricky fight at UFC 323 this December.
Although unconfirmed, it is being reported that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion will take on Song Yadong at UFC 323 on December 6 in Las Vegas.
O’Malley is coming into this bout off the back of two consecutive defeats to 135-pound king Merab Dvalishvili. The American lost his bantamweight belt to Dvalishvili back in September 2024 when he was beaten via decision.
After a lengthy injury layoff, O’Malley rematched Dvalishvili this June, but once again came unstuck against Merab, this time losing via submission in the third round.
However, it seems that ‘Suga’ has the chance to put that right before the end of the year as he will take on the #5 ranked Yadong in a compelling 135-pound contest this winter in Las Vegas.
UFC 323 is set to go down on December 6 with a venue yet to be confirmed. Fans can expect the O’Malley vs Yadong clash to be the co-main event, unless there are two title fights at the top of the bill.
Should the fight get signed and announced in the coming weeks, UFC betting sites will likely list the former champion O’Malley as the pre-fight favourite to defeat the Chinese MMA phenom.
Although he has lost his last two fights, O’Malley is world class and still the #1 ranked fighter at bantamweight behind Dvalishvili. That being said, Yadong beat former two-division king Henry Cejudo last time out, so will be confident of another huge scalp.
Expect official confirmation from UFC President Dana White in the coming weeks as Sean O’Malley vs Song Yadong is set to be announced for UFC 323 on December 6.

Who Will Be The O’Malley vs Yadong Favourite At UFC 323?
With Sean O’Malley vs Song Yadong set to feature at UFC 323, MMA fans are wondering what odds they could get.
Sean O’Malley’s next fight looks likely for the UFC 323 main card against the Chinese fighter.
If it is signed and sealed, expect the former UFC Bantamweight Champion to be the marginal favourite. That being said, it wouldn’t come as a shock if it was Yadong who upset the apple cart and got his hand raised come fight night.
O’Malley hasn’t won a fight since his 135-pound title defence against Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera back in March 2024. Yadong on the other hand won his last fight against former two-division king Henry Cejudo.
That being said, all of the pedigree is with O’Malley. He has proved before that he is the best bantamweight around outside of the now dominant champion Merab Dvalishvili. If he can put his back-to-back losses behind him, Suga should get the job done come UFC 323.
Despite both men possessing knockout power, it is more likely the contest goes the distance with it being just a three round non-title fight.
If O’Malley vs Yadong is signed for UFC 323, it could act as the co-main event to a quite huge main event. Ilia Topuria vs Justin Gaethje is reportedly confirmed for the UFC 323 main event, with this being a viable support act.
That is unless Alexander Volkanovski vs Lerone Murphy is announced as the UFC 323 co-main event. If this is the case, then O’Malley vs Yadong will serve as the final non-title fight before the two UFCÂ Title fights at the top of the bill.
Time will tell what happens on fight night as Sean O’Malley vs Song Yadong looks set to feature at UFC 323.
