Marmous FPL AFCON

Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush may have to decision on his hands when he returns from AFCON.

The Egyptian is set to line up alongside Mo Salah, who created history for his country, when they take on Senegal on Wednesday for a place in the final.

Marmoush, 26, has scored twice in four appearances at the tournament, including in the 3-2 knockout victory over the Ivory Coast.

All attention will be on ending Egypt’s 16-year wait since their last AFCON title and cementing their status as the tournament’s most successful nation as they chase their eighth victory.

The victor of Wednesday’s contest will face either Nigeria or hosts Morocco in the final.

A Transfer Decision Awaits For Omar Marmoush

Antoine Semenyo’s arrival at Manchester City has cast further doubt on the future of Marmoush during the January transfer window.

He has only started two Premier League games this season, with his last coming in the 2-1 defeat against Brighton at the end of August.

Marmoush missed five games with a knee injury, but has struggled for minutes on his return, and his strike in the EFL Cup over Swansea remains his only goal of the campaign.

Ryan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders’ arrivals and run of form, combined with Phil Foden’s performances, have contributed to Marmoush’s limited appearances.

Four of Marmoush’s 15 appearances in all competitions this season have come on the left, but he’ll now have the added competition provided by Semenyo.

Tottenham have been linked with the player as they aim to strengthen, but have seemingly turned their attentions towards Conor Gallagher.

Aston Villa looked set to complete a deal for the England international on a loan with a view to a permanent deal.

Spurs have gazumped that bid by stumping up £35m and showing a willingness to meet Atletico Madrid’s valuation.

Omar Marmoush to Aston Villa?

Aston Villa may turn their attentions towards Marmoush to provide further depth to their attacking midfield options.

That could be further accelerated by the knowledge that Donyell Malen could head to Roma this month, as revealed in our transfer round-up.

Marmoush would be considered an ambitious move for the Midlands side, but they harbour ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League for the second successive year.

Any deal in January will hinge on a loan switch, with a view to a permanent deal.

Liverpool’s loanee Harvey Elliot has no future at Villa Park, while the jury is still out on Jadon Sancho’s temporary spell from Manchester United.
