The PDC Premier League enters night 2 on Thursday 13th February in Glasgow and you can find a preview, prediction and more below.
PDC Premier League Night 2 Preview
The PDC Premier League is back on our screens for its second night of action, as the six darts stars head to the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
Current title holder, Luke Littler, will go head-to-head with 2019 finalist, Rob Cross, as the teenager looks to improve on his 6-5 defeat to Michael van Gerwen in week 1.
Speaking of the Dutchman, the seven-time Premier League winner will be hoping to get a step further than last week after losing to Luke Humphries in the second stage of the night.
Van Gerwen beat Littler, before losing to Humphries and will now face Stephen Bunting, who was defeated by Cross in the opening match.
Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price were both eliminated in the first round of week 1 and at least one of them will be able to improve on this as they go to battle in Glasgow.
To finish off the opening round of week 2 we have a repeat of the final from the opening week, as Chris Dobey and Luke Humphries face off once again.
PDC Premier League Night 2 Predictions
Rob Cross vs Luke Littler (7:15 pm)
Since winning his first World Championship, Littler has struggled to pick up wins on the Oche, being eliminated at the Bahrain Masters, losing to Joe Cullen at the Players Championship 1 and then in the quarter finals of the Players Championship 2 against Gerwyn Price.
As for Rob Cross, victory at the Players Championship 1 brought another title following his triumph at the Bahrain Masters – but he did suffer a 6-1 thrashing to Michael Mansell in his most recent match.
Littler’s defeat to Van Gerwen came despite averaging 113.9, throwing six 180’s and achieving a highest checkout of 161 – while Cross averaged 97 and 89.5 in his two matches in week 1 while throwing four 180’s overall.
Prediction: Luke Littler 6-3 Rob Cross
Michael van Gerwen vs Stephen Bunting (7:40 pm)
The Dutch darts icon is going for his eighth Premier League title and showed signs of his sparkling best during a 6-5 win over Littler last week.
Averaging 105.91 against the world No.2 and 101.5 against the world No.1, Van Gerwen is capable of pulling off another strong nigh in the PDC Premier League.
Bunting is playing in the Premier League for just the second time in 10 years and his return to the competition got off to a poor start – averaging 94.03 in a defeat to Rob Cross.
The Bullet will be hoping to bounce back after some strong wins in the Player Championships and Bunting did beat Van Gerwen in their last encounter.
Prediction: Michael van Gerwen 6-4 Stephen Bunting
Nathan Aspinall vs Gerwyn Price (8:10 pm)
Nathan Aspinall has struggled to perform on the stage in recent weeks, with many questioning his position in the Premier League roster.
Reports have suggested that the Asp is dealing with some issues in relation to ‘Dartitis’ and the Darts veteran was beaten 6-2 in the opening match by Humphries during week 1.
As for the Ice Man, he picked up another title at the Player Championship 2 after beating Chris Dobey in the final – while also beating Littler, Johnny Clayton and Ryan Searle among others on his route to the trophy.
The Welshman was beaten in the opening match in week 1, averaging 96.21 against Chris Dobey which is slightly superior to Aspinall’s 95.73 against Humphries.
Prediction: Nathan Aspinall 4-6 Gerwyn Price
Luke Humphries vs Chris Dobey (8:40 pm)
Humphries showed why he is the world No.1 during the opening week of the Premier League, beating Aspinall, Van Gerwen and Dobey to clinch the trophy in Belfast.
In fact, before a 7-6 defeat to Joe Cullen in the Players Championship 1 semi finals, Humphries had won 13 consecutive matches.
Dobey was swept aside by Humphries in the final of week 1, but did pick up some impressive victories against Rob Cross and Gerwyn Price.
Averaging around 95 across the three matches in week 1, Dobey could be a dark horse for the tournament but will have to battle the demons from his monstrous defeat in the final – as Humphries is a heavy favourite on UK Betting Sites.
Prediction: Luke Humphries 6-3 Chris Dobey
