Jurgen Klopp and Pep Lijnders Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s former assistant Pep Lijnders has revealed that they had a furious row over a current Liverpool player on the new ‘Doubters To Believers’ documentary.

‘Doubters to Believers Liverpool FC: Klopp’s era’ is a new four-part documentary which has been released on Amazon Prime.

It chronicles Klopp’s journey from his arrival in October 2015 to his emotional departure at the end of last season.

The original plan was for it to focus on Klopp’s final season. However, it evolved into a broader retrospective of his reign following his shock resignation announcement in January 2024.

Ljinders left Liverpool along with Klopp last summer taking on the managerial role at RB Salzburg. However, he is currently out of work after he was dismissed just six months into the role.

Speaking on the Doubters to Believers documentary, Ljinders revealed that a row with Klopp over Liverpool star Conor Bradley that left him ‘really upset’.

Lijnders Reveals Row Jurgen Klopp In Doubters To Believers Documentary

Pep Lijnders has shed light on the new Doubters to Believers documentary that he and Jurgen Klopp had a difference in opinion over Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley.

The pair had a furious row over the Northern Ireland international ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Lijnders felt that Liverpool should have kept Bradley as back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold, though Klopp would ultimately give the green light on the youngster joining Bolton Wanderers on loan.

“I remember that I really fought, proper fought, for Conor to be our No 2 behind Trent,” Lijnders said in the four-part Doubters to Believers documentary.

I was really trying to keep him in the club because I believed that he would already be ready at that time.

“The club makes the decision together with Jurgen to get him out on loan and it really, really upset me a lot. There was hard, hard words and it was probably one of the only confrontations I had with Jurgen.

“He won’t remember it anyway but I remember it.”

Back in January 2024, Klopp revealed in a press conference that Lijnders had been ‘in his ear’ over Bradley for three years.

Lijnders’ comments are interesting as Bradley has impressed when he has featured in the first-team for Liverpool. The 21-year-old could be the regular starting right-back next season if Alexander-Arnold joins Real Madrid this summer.

Bradley was 19 when Lijnders vouched for him in 2022. Alexander-Arnold would feature in 37 of the 38 Premier League games that season getting little rest, with versatile centre-back Joe Gomez the only player to fill in for him.
