Champions League leaders Liverpool travel to Eindhoven to take on PSV on Wednesday night, and we’ve got the latest in terms of team news and predicted lineups, as well as a prediction alongside our preview.

PSV vs Liverpool Preview

Premier League leaders Liverpool and Eredivisie leaders PSV go head-to-head on MD8 of the Champions League on Wednesday night, where the Reds will be looking to round off the league phase with a perfect 100% record.

Arne Slot’s side top the Champions League table heading into the final round of fixtures and are the only team remaining with an unbeaten record in the competition, having won all seven of their fixtures.

This includes victories over AC Milan, Bologna, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid, Girona and, last time out, Lille, leaving them three points clear of second place Barcelona, with qualification to the last-16 already confirmed.

Meanwhile, PSV are in 19th place in the table on 11 points, ahead of the likes of PSG, Sporting, Benfica and Manchester City, and they are almost certain to qualify for the knockout phase play-offs but can also advance directly to the last-16 if they are able to beat Liverpool and if other results go in their favour.

The Eindhoven-based outfit have beaten Red Star Belgrade, Shakhtar Donetsk and Girona, drawn with PSG and Sporting, and have suffered defeats to Juventus and Brest thus far in the competition.

Both sides head into this one off the back of victories in their respective domestic leagues, with PSV claiming a 3-2 win over NAC Breda on Saturday, while Liverpool cruised to a 4-1 triumph over newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

Cody Gakpo, who joined the Reds from PSV for a reported €40 to €50 million fee back in 2022, will be keen to make an impact on his return to face his boyhood club at the Philips Stadion.

PSV Team News

Former Tottenham wide man Ivan Perisic is ineligible to feature for PSV in the Champions League league phase, therefore Noa Lang looks set to return to Peter Bosz’s lineup on the left-hand side of the attack.

Also unavailable is Ryan Flamingo, who is suspended after picking up a red card in the win over Red Star on MD7, while Malik Tillman (ankle), Sergino Dest (knee), Adamo Nagalo and Couhaib Driouech are also ruled out.

Liverpool Team News

As for the Reds, they remain without Joe Gomez (thigh) and Diogo Jota (muscular), while Curtis Jones is a doubt after missing the weekend’s win over Ipswich with an unspecified injury concern.

Slot is expected to make numerous changes to his side, having already secured round of 16 qualification, with Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Ryan Gravenberch, Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz all omitted from the travelling squad.

PSV vs Liverpool Prediction

Despite it being likely that Liverpool will make wholesale changes to their starting lineup in order to rest key players for the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, the UK’s best football betting sites still have the Reds as 5/4 favourites to prevail.

A shock victory for PSV is priced at around 2/1 and a draw is valued at around 27/10.

We at SportsCasting, based on the hosts’ impressive form this season and Liverpool’s likely changes, are predicting a stalemate in this one, which would confirm PSV’s advancement to the knockout stages.
