Andrew heads to Clonmel and the evening AW card at Newcastle for two stats-based picks on Tuesday, December 3rd…

CLONMEL 3.05

LAZER WOLF (system – Gavin Cromwell, first run in a handicap chase, recent outing)

Since the beginning of 2018, Gavin Cromwell has a 14 from 65 record with his handicap chase debutants who were returning to the track within six weeks of their latest outing.

Backing the qualifiers blind would have returned a profit of £10.83 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those running in Class E or lower company were ten from 30 for a profit of £32.25.

LAZER WOLF took a step in the right direction when an 11-1 fifth in novice chase company at Punchestown last month and can make a winning handicap chase debut.

NEWCASTLE 7.00

MR JETMAN (system – Ivan Furtado, stable switchers)

Ivan Furtado has a 23 from 159 record (14.5%) at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other trainers and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £12.99 to the usual £1 stake (expected winners = 14.95, A/E = 1.54).

So far this year the score is three from ten (winners at 33-1, 16-1 and 11-4) and it could be worth chancing MR JETMAN on his first run since leaving Grant Tuer’s care.

The son of Territories could improve for the first-time cheekpieces, as his sire’s progeny in this headgear are five from 17 for a profit of £22.25.
