Barcelona summer signing Marcus Rashford will reportedly not be able to make his LaLiga debut against RCD Mallorca on Saturday.
Rashford joined the Catalans on a season-long loan from boyhood club Manchester United earlier this summer. Barca have the option to make his stay permanent next summer for around £30million.
Inter Milan also wanted to sign Rashford on loan, but the player was determined to join Barcelona.
Marcus Rashford Will Not Make LaLiga Debut Against Mallorca
Barcelona have signed two players this summer, bringing Joan Garcia from Espanyol and Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. Unlike Rashford, Garcia has joined the Catalan side on a permanent deal.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have yet to register either Garcia or Rashford to their squad.
This does not bode well for the Englishman, as Barca are reportedly prioritising Garcia’s registration.

Barcelona do not have any first-team goalkeepers in their ranks except for Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Barca’s relationship with the goalkeeper scraping the bottom of the barrel, so it is unlikely that they would turn to the German.
This makes Garcia’s registration crucial ahead of the first LaLiga opener against Mallorca, which Barca are 11/20 to win with football betting sites.
In contrast, Barcelona have an abundance of options in attack. Raphinha and Ferran Torres are more than capable of covering Rashford. There are also the likes of Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo, who can operate down the wings.
So, if Barcelona have to pick an essential player for the LaLiga season opener, Garcia is likely to edge Rashford out.
Marcus Rashford Misses Open Goal in Joan Gamper Trophy Clash Against Como
Marcus Rashford played his first home match for Barcelona on Sunday, as the Catalans faced Como in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
In the final pre-season friendly of the summer, Barca came away with a 5-0 victory, with Fermin Lopez and Lamine Yamal scoring braces, and Raphinha finding the net once.
Rashford made some excellent runs and superbly set-up Raphinha’s goal. However, a poor first-half miss left fans and teammate Raphinha in disbelief.
The Manchester United academy graduate latched on to Yamal’s through ball before dragging the ball away from the goalkeeper and a Como defender. With the goal at his mercy, Rashford sent his effort wide of the left-hand post, drawing an animated reaction from Raphinha.

While Rashford should have undoubtedly done better with the finish, his overall performance was quite impressive. The way he orchestrated Raphinha’s goal, kicking off the move deep into the Barca half before running to the other end to play the final pass, was admirable.
It will be interesting to see how quickly Barcelona manage to resolve the registration issue and let him have a crack at LaLiga defenders.
