Manchester City have been dealt a major boost for Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid, as Kylian Mbappe is now an injury doubt.
Real Madrid Star Kylian Mbappe Doubtful for Manchester City Clash
Kylian Mbappe is a doubt for Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Manchester City.
The striker missed training on Tuesday after picking up an injury in Los Blancos’ shock 2-0 defeat by Celta Vigo on Sunday. He is reportedly suffering with muscular discomfort in his left leg.
Additionally, the Frenchman suffered a broken finger during the first half of the aforementioned fixture but managed to play on and featured for the entire 90 minutes at the Bernabeu.
But now, having missed his side’s latest training session, there’s a strong chance he won’t be involved when City visit the Spanish capital on Matchday 6 of the league phase on Wednesday.
It comes as a major blow for Xabi Alonso, who is under pressure after a poor spell of results.

Los Blancos have managed just two wins across their last seven matches in all competitions, and they now trail Barcelona by four points as they occupy second place in the LaLiga table.
As a result, Alonso’s long-term future at the club is in doubt. Former boss Zinedine Zidane currently tops the next Real Madrid manager odds market as pressure continues to mount.
Defeat by City could spell the end of the Spaniard’s short tenure as Real boss, having only been appointed in the summer, with Mbappe’s potential absence being a huge miss.
Despite his team’s shortcomings, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco forward has excelled thus far this term. He has registered 25 goals and four assists in 21 matches.
Eder Militao Ruled Out of City Clash
Adding to Real’s concerns ahead of City’s visit, central defender Eder Militao has been ruled out after suffering a tear in his biceps femoris muscle in the left leg against Celta on Sunday.
The Brazilian is expected to be sidelined for upwards of four months.
Also on the treatment table, Trent Alexander-Arnold is out with a thigh setback, Dani Carvajal remains out with a knee issue, and Ferland Mendy misses out with a hamstring problem.
Former Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen is a major doubt after missing the last four games with a muscular problem, and David Alaba is a doubt due to a muscular concern as well.
Additionally, Eduardo Camavinga is expected to miss out after picking up a knock.
Meanwhile, Manchester City were dealt an injury blow of their own at the weekend.
John Stones missed Sunderland’s visit to the Etihad due to an unspecified issue, and the England international is considered to be a doubt for the Cityzens’ trip to Madrid in midweek.
Midfield duo Rodri and Mateo Kovacic have been ruled out of the fixture.
