Hulk Yellow Card

Watch as a referee hilariously trolls Hulk with an unexpected yellow card during Atletico Mineiro’s Copa Sudamericana clash against Bucaramanga.

Referee Trolls Hulk With Yellow Card

Hulk was left with egg on his face after Atletico Mineiro’s Copa Sudamericana tie against Bucaramanga on Friday morning, as he was shown an amusing yellow card by the referee.

The Brazilian side, whom Hulk captains, led the playoff tie 1-0 after the first leg. Colombia’s Bucaramanga prevailed by the same scoreline in the second leg, however, meaning penalties were required to decide which team advanced to the round of 16.

Clearly unimpressed by the match officials, Hulk confronted the referee at full-time.

Uruguayan official Esteban Ostojich listened intently to the 39-year-old’s complaints.

He nodded along as the former Brazil international vented his frustrations, and at the end of his spiel, the referee smiled in Hulk’s face, shook his hand, and unexpectedly brandished a card.

Luckily for the forward, it was only a yellow, but his reaction was simply priceless.

Atletico Mineiro went on to win the shootout 3-1, with Hulk converting the first spot-kick to send the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side on their way to the next round.

It follows on from his goal in last week’s first leg at Estadio AmĂ©rico Montanini.

He now has a total of two goals in the Copa Sudamericana thus far, and football betting sites have him priced at 28/1 to finish as the competition’s top scorer.

In total, Hulk has 15 goals and three assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this term. Last season, he totalled an impressive 19 goals and 13 assists in 53 matches.

Atletico Mineiro face Argentina’s Godoy Cruz in the Copa Sudamericana last-16.

The first leg is due to be played at Galo‘s Arena MRV home in Belo Horizonte on Wednesday, 13 August. A week later, they play the return leg at Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza.

Cuca’s side ended the group stage in second place in Group H. Boasting a record of two wins, three draws and one defeat, the Brazilian giants were pipped to top spot by Cienciano of Peru.

Bookmakers have Hulk and co. as the second favourites to lift the second-tier South American title at 5/1, with Fluminense favoured ahead of them in the betting market at around 9/2.
