Wales assistant coach Rob Howley has left his role with the national side as interim boss Matt Sherratt rings the changes among staff and players.
Cardiff Blues head coach Sherratt has been given the national job temporarily after the departure of Warren Gatland.
Gatland left following Wales’ loss to Italy, which made it 14 straight test match defeats—the worst run in their history.
But now, long-time assistant coach Rob Howley has followed Gatland out the WRU door.
The Welsh Union say Howley will remain under contract despite leaving his role for the remainder of the Six Nations.
Rob Howley Out As Wales Recall Trio
Howley leaves his role with Wales after 17 years of involvement. He first became an assistant coach in 2008, having retired from playing in 2004.
The former scrum-half won 59 caps for Wales from 1996-2002, as well as twice touring with the British and Irish Lions.
In 2004, his try famously won Wasps the Heineken Cup at Twickenham in dramatic fashion.
Following his appointment as interim head coach, Matt Sherratt has brought in three more players.
Fly-halves Jarrod Evans and Gareth Anscombe have been recalled, along with centre Max Llewellyn.
All three were surprise omissions from the initial Wales squad, with Llewellyn in particular raising eyebrows with his absence.
The trio all play in England, with Evans at Harlequins and the other two playing for Gloucester in the Premiership.
But Sherratt has worked with them all before in Cardiff, and clearly trusts them to lift this flailing Welsh side.
Injuries to fullback Liam Williams and centre Owen Watkin have meant there’s a need for reinforcements in the squad.
Anscombe and Evans come in to add some much-needed depth to the number ten jersey.
So far this tournament, only Ospreys youngster Dan Edwards is a recognised fly-half, with Cardiff centre Ben Thomas filling the role against Italy.
