Ruben Amorim set an unwanted record as Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Matchday 1 of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

It was the Portuguese manager’s 15th defeat in the Premier League since he took over in November 2024.

He took only 28 games to reach the mark, becoming the fastest Man Utd manager in the Premier League era to do so.

Amorim is currently 4/1 with UK betting sites to lose his job to former England boss Gareth Southgate.

Ruben Amorim Suffering Horror Spell at Manchester United

Impressed with his double title-winning stint at Sporting CP, Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim as the permanent successor to Erik ten Hag. Amorim warned it would be a long way back, but Man Utd fans probably expected better returns from the Portuguese manager.

So far, Amorim has managed the Red Devils in 43 games in all competitions. United have won 17 of them, drawn 8, and lost 18, scoring 1.37 points on average. Last season, the 20-time English champions finished 15th in the league and lost the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur.

They brought in Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, spending about £200 million on players. Despite the reinforcements, United opened their 2025/26 Premier League with a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Danny Murphy praised Man Utd’s performance, but thought they needed more players, highlighting their transfer priority.

Amorim Sets Undesirable Man Utd Record After Arsenal Defeat

The defeat against Arsenal marked Manchester United’s 15th Premier League defeat under Ruben Amorim, in just 28 games. Amorim is now the Man Utd manager with the worst record in the Premier League era.

His predecessor, Erik ten Hag, fell to his 15th defeat in his 53rd Premier League game.
