Leading 1-0 after the first leg, Scotland host Greece in the second leg of their Nations League promotion/relegation play-off on Sunday, and our preview has the latest team news and lineups ahead of the action.

Looking to retain their place in League A of the Nations League, Scotland welcome Greece to Hampden Park for the second leg of their promotion/relegation play-off on Thursday, in which they lead 1-0 after the first leg.

The goal came courtesy of former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, as it so often does for the Scottish, with the 28-year-old taking his senior international goal tally to 12 goals in 59 appearances.

Steve Clarke’s side have now won three in succession, having defeated Poland and Croatia in the two matches preceding their victory in Athens, which is their best run of wins since winning five in a row between March and September 2023.

Ivan Jovanovic’s Greece, meanwhile, headed into the first leg in strong form after an impressive Nations League campaign.

They finished second to England on goal difference in their League B group, which also included Ireland and Finland, recording five wins from six, including a shock 2-1 win over the English at Wembley Stadium in early October.

Sunday’s clash won’t be the last time that Ethniki face off against Scotland in competitive play either, as they have both been drawn into Group C in World Cup qualifying, alongside Belarus and either Denmark or Portugal.

Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Christie is eligible to make his return after serving a one-match suspension on Thursday.

Clarke may opt to go unchanged and leave the 30-year-old on the bench, but if he is selected to start, he will likely replace Norwich’s Kenny McLean, and will partner Napoli’s Billy Gilmour in front of the back line.

As for the visitors, 17-year-old Genk star Konstantinos Karetsas may force his way into the starting lineup after impressing from the bench in the first leg. He will likely come into the lineup in place of Giorgios Masouras.

Benfica striker Vangelis Pavlidis, who has 20 goals and nine assists across all competitions this term, including seven goals and three assists in the Champions League, could lead the line in lieu of Fotis Ioannidis.
