Ireland Sink Scotland In Edinburgh To Maintain Perfect Start To Six Nations Campaign

Watch Scotland Vs Ireland highlights as Ireland ran out comfortable winners at Murrayfield to keep their Six Nations title defence on track.
Ireland took control of this year’s Six Nations tournament with a dominant 32-18 win against Scotland in Edinburgh.
It’s now 11 straight wins for the Irish against their Celtic cousins as Scotland crumbled once again in a high-pressure game.
The pre-game narrative had been that it was ‘now or never’ for Scotland’s golden generation – but it seems ‘never’ has been the result yet again.
Ireland got off to a strong start when Sam Prendergast looping pass found Calvin Nash in acres of space to run in unopposed out wide.
Things got worse for Scotland when Duhan van der Merwe was sin-binned for a push off the ball as he and Nash chased down a ball in the Scotland in-goal area.
Another Irish try came through Caelan Doris to make it 17-0 to the visitors.
Scotland got on the board through Van der Merwe’s acrobatic finish in the corner, but the result was never in doubt.
Further Irish scores made sure of the result, with James Lowe going over before Jack Conan’s bonus-point try.
Ben White grabbed a consolation score for Scotland, but that did little to lift the Murrayfield crowd.
Watch: Scotland Vs Ireland Highlights
With a final score of 32-18, it felt like Ireland rarely reached top gear. Another convincing win against Scotland means they sit top of the table with a maximum ten points.
England’s win against France means they sit second and third with six points each.
Scotland are fourth, with Italy’s win over Wales in Rome putting them fifth above the winless Welsh.
This weekend is the first of two fallow weeks in the Six Nations.
After the break, Ireland travel to Wales on Saturday 22 February, before England host Scotland later that day.
On the Sunday, Italy host France in the third and final round three match.
