Scottie Scheffler Next Tournament: When Is American Golf Star Back In Action?
World number one Scottie Scheffler is back in action once more before the turn of the year.
Golf fans can see the world’s best player one final time before the new PGA Tour campaign begins in January.
The four-time major champion is set to tee it up at the 2025 Hero World Challenge at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas. Despite the PGA Tour concluding this weekend, Scheffler will be one of a select number of players in action at the Hero in December.
Not only is Scheffler one of the most followed golfers in the world, he is also the outright best. The world number one will aim to defend his Hero World Challenge title in what would be a hat-trick of successive victories at the Tiger Woods-hosted event.
The Hero World Challenge in an invite-only tournament with a small field of 20 select players. Although it is listed as a PGA Tour event, there are no FedEx Cup points or official money as it is an unofficial event.
After the Hero World Challenge, Scheffler will rest and recover over Christmas whilst spending time with his family. Then, he is set to return to the fairways in early 2026 as the new PGA Tour season officially begins.
Scheffler’s first tournament of next year is yet to be confirmed, but he is sure to be in action in January at the Sony Open of Hawaii or at The American Express.
For now though, Scottie Scheffler’s next event is from 4-7 December as he tees it up at the 2025 Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
Scottie Scheffler Next Tournament Sees World No.1 Aim To Make Hero World Challenge History
Scottie Scheffler’s next tournament is not only one where he aims to defend his title for a third straight year, but it is one he is aiming to make Hero World Challenge history at as well.
The 29-year-old has won the last two stagings of the Hero in both 2023 and 2024. The world number one won by three strokes in 2023 to Sepp Straka before winning by a margin of six shots last year to Tom Kim.
Now, as Scheffler’s next competitive outing approaches, he aims to make history by becoming the first ever back-to-back-to-back winner of the Hero World Challenge.
There have been multiple back-to-back winners of the Hero over the years, including the now host Tiger Woods as well as Viktor Hovland and now Scheffler. However, nobody has ever won three successive Hero World Challenge titles.
Should Scheffler do so, he will make tournament history and become the first man to ever win the Hero three times in a row.
When Was Scottie Scheffler’s Last Tournament?
Scottie Scheffler is already one of the top five highest earning players of all time, which is partly thanks to his incredible performances on the golf course this year. Scheffler won two major championships in 2025, as well as finishing in the Top 10 of the other two.
The American also won four other PGA Tour events on top of the two majors, which took his yearly earnings to over $40million for this year alone. The last of his wins came at the Procore Championship back in September, but that wasn’t the last time golf fans saw the four-time major champion in action.
Scheffler’s last tournament was in fact the 45th Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. The Texas-born golf star was part of Team USA who were defeated 15-13 by Luke Donald’s men, who improved Team Europe’s Ryder Cup record in America by winning on US soil for the first time since 2012.
The 29-year-old hasn’t featured in any tournaments since, but is expected to defend his title at the Hero World Challenge from 4-7 December at Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas next.
Who Else Is Playing In The 2025 Hero World Challenge?
Joining Scottie Scheffler at the 2025 Hero World Challenge tournament will be 19 other world class golfers who have qualified or been selected for the prestigious Tiger Woods-hosted event.
This includes all the major winners from the year, the top 11 available players from the Official World Golf Rankings, two special exemption players, the reigning champion and the current Players Championship winner.
Having won his seventh Race to Dubai title and four in a row, Rory McIlroy’s next tournament is yet to be confirmed. It could well be the Hero alongside Scheffler and co, but the Northern Irishman is yet to commit. He has of course qualified, but whether he tees it up himself or not remains to be seen.
