With the 2025 Grand National just hours away, top Irish owner JP McManus is setting up to have the top THREE in the market, as he chasing a record-breaking fourth win in the world’s greatest steeplechase.
I Am Maximus, Iroko and Perceval Legallois All Well-Backed On Grand National Day
Since 2019 the best horse racing betting sites in the UK have seen three winning favourites go in and if we get another in 2025 – this will be the first time the Grand National has seen three jollies win the famous race on the spin.
Tiger Roll was backed into 4/1 to win in 2019 and then in the last two year’s Corach Rambler won at 8/1 and 12 months ago I Am Maximus rewarded favourite backers by winning as the 7/1 joint-jolly.
A lot can still happen in the market between now and race time at 4pm – but at this stage the signs are strong that top owner JP McMANUS will have the favourite – it’s just hard to know with which horse.
This is because the famous green and gold horse racing silks are propping up the 2025 Grand National betting market with THREE horses.
These are last year’s winner I Am Maximus, who will carry 6lbs more this time, the 7 year-old Iroko and the Gavin Cromwell-trained Pervceval Legallios.
If having these three leading chances wasn’t enough for JP – he’s also got a fair back-up duo in Meetingofthewaters, who was 7th in 2024, and Chantry House for Nicky Henderson.
Meaning he’s got FIVE runners in the big race in total.
At the time of writing, I Am Maximus is 13/2 favourite, Iroko 8/1 second best and Perceval Legallois third at 10/1.

JP McManus Could Become The Winning-Most Grand National Owner In 2025
Having won the National for the first time in 2010 with Don’t Push It – the horse that gave former champion jockey AP McCoy his only win in the race.
JP McManus had to wait eleven years for his next when Minella Times created history winning in 2021. He was ridden by Rachael Blackmore, who was the first female jockey to win the famous Grand National prize money.
Then with JP adding I Am Maximus to his Grand National tally in 2024, this means the top Irish owner will head into 2025 with a total of three wins.
He needs just one more to become the winning-most owner in his own right.
He’s currently tied with the likes of Trevor Hemmings, who won the race with Hedgehunter, Ballabriggs and Many Clouds.
Plus, the Gigginstown House Stud team – after their wins with Tiger Roll (2) and Rule The World.
While, of course, Red Rum’s owner Noel Le Mare can also boast three National wins as an owner.
