Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a wonderful free-kick goal in England’s Nations League win over Finland on Sunday, and plenty of fans took to social media in reaction to it. The Liverpool defender doubled England’s lead in the 74th minute when he guided the ball over the wall and into the top corner from 25 yards out. Interim manager Lee Carsley’s decision to start Alexander-Arnold at left-back perplexed the majority of fans before the game, but Trent put in a strong showing in an unfamiliar position. England cruised to a 3-1 win in the end – the other goals coming from Jack Grealish and Declan Rice before Arttu Hoskonen’s late consolation header. Carsley’s side remain second in Nations League Group B after leaders’ Greece beat the Republic of Ireland 2-0. He's on a different planet to Kyle Walker, Rico Lewis, Trippier, Reece James, and all the other bang average shite that they compare him to. Trent is so fake I didn’t even flinch when he scored that looool — 🕷️ 🇵🇸 (@kae1enftbl_) October 13, 2024 https://twitter.com/utdloyal_/status/1845520097869238335 Since Dani Carvajal’s injury, the rumours of a switch to Real Madrid have gathered further steam… but Liverpool and Arne Slot will be desperate to keep hold of the 26-year-old. I really do get it with Trent… A player this talented, a player this unique should be winning trophies year on year. Slot’s Liverpool could well be that team, but it’s a risk, an unknown. Real Madrid is a much safer bet of securing legend status. pic.twitter.com/c2BInuif7C — Dougie Critchley (@DougieCritchley) October 13, 2024 I want a contract on Trent’s table the second he lands back in Liverpool, idc what it takes, he is the future of our institution we call Liverpool Football Club https://t.co/UGUIap1tts — ⥁ (@LFC_ERYAN) October 13, 2024 Alexander-Arnold in Madrid is going to be a next-level cheat code man. Imagine Madrid’s inherent remontada & game-state breaker energy with Trent’s pinpoint deliveries. It’s over. — Ahead of the Curve (@mediocentr0) October 13, 2024 Trent’s free-kick stunner was his fourth goal for England – the same amount as Manchester City’s Phil Foden.
