Cristiano Ronaldo took two more steps to scoring 1000 goals, as the Portuguese veteran scored an overhead kick in a 5-1 win over Poland. Cristiano Ronaldo Scores Superb Overhead Kick Against Poland The footballing icon made it 910 career goals in Portugal’s 5-1 win over Poland, as the former Manchester United star scored twice, including an overhead kick, in his hunt for 1000 goals. Portugal needed a point to seal their place in the UEFA Nations League quarter finals and Roberto Martinez’s side began the match superbly. The hosts came close in the opening stages as Pedro Neto’s cross was inches away from being converted by Bruno Fernandes. However, Poland also had their moments and Nicola Zalewski almost put the visitors ahead with a monstrous long-range effort that was brilliantly saved by Diogo Costa. The best chance of the half fell to Bartosz Bereszynski, as the Polish player was denied by a last-ditch tackle from PSG defender – Nuno Mendes. Portugal looked like they were going to take the lead straight after the restart, but Ronaldo fluffed his lines from close range after some great work from Rafael Leao. But, it would be Leao that gave Portugal their deserved lead, as the AC Milan star finished off a swift counter attack with a well-placed header. The Euro 2016 champions would double their lead from the penalty spot, as Ronaldo scored his first after Diogo Dalot’s strike hit the arm of Jakub Kiwior. Things went from bad to worse for Poland, as Bruno Fernandes unleashed a cannon from outside the box that crashed off the crossbar into the back of the net. Pedro Neto then added a fourth with a sublime near-post finish and Ronaldo added a fifth with a superb overhead kick into the far corner. Poland managed to find a consolation through Dominik Marczuk, who came on as a substitute, but Portugal went on to seal their place in the UNL quarter-finals.
