Watch highlights from Saturday’s El Clasico as a Robert Lewandowski brace inspired Barcelona to a thumping, 4-0 win against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Polish veteran scored twice in three second-half minutes as the floodgates opened late on in Madrid. Lewandowski’s 54th-minute opener was followed moments later as he headed home Alejandro Balde’s cross. Then, Barca’s 17-year-old prodigy Lamine Yamal fired a third goal past Andriy Lunin. And the visitors weren’t done there. Former Leeds United star Raphinha sealed the emphatic victory with a clever lob six minutes from full-time. Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said: “It’s a hard moment, a tough moment when you lose a game, [especially after] so many unbeaten,” said Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. The defeat was particularly tough for Madrid new boy Kylian Mbappe. The French forward had two goals ruled out by the offside flag, while also being denied by Barca keeper Inaki Pena. Watch: El Clasico Highlights: Real Madrid 0-4 Barcelona The result takes Barcelona six points clear of Real Madrid in Spain’s La Liga. Barca last won the title in 2022/23, and have not finished outside the top three since 2003. Real meanwhile are the defending champions, but were dealt a huge blow to their title defence ambitions on Saturday. Racist Abuse Towards Lamine Yamal Overshadows Barca Clasico Win Although the result grabbed headlines, sadly there were other talking points following Saturday’s game. Both Real Madrid and La Liga have opened investigations after videos on social media emerged appearing to show Madrid fans racially abusing Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old was taunted by home supporters after his 77th-minute goal put Barcelona 3-0 up. In a statement, Real Madrid said: “Real Madrid strongly condemns any kind of behaviour involving racism, xenophobia or violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults that a few fans uttered last night in one of the corners of the stadium. “Real Madrid has opened an investigation in order to locate and identify the perpetrators of these deplorable and despicable insults so that the appropriate disciplinary and judicial measures can be taken.” Written by Sports EditorJames Chittick James is an experienced writer covering a wide range of sports, including Premier League and European football, Rugby Union, WWE and the NFL.
