The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly LAKE VICTORIA kept her unbeaten record intact – after making it 5-from-5 with an emphatic Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf result for Ireland on Friday 1st November 2024.

Ryan Moore and Lake Victoria Record Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Result – Swooping Late Off The Home Bend

Despite being drawn in gate 1, Lake Victoria didn’t get the best of breaks and had to race for much of the contest back in seventh.

However, Moore and his unbeaten filly, at least had the rail to save ground and started to pick rivals off around the Del Mar home bend.

The pair then got a nice break into the straight, which allowed Moore to angle three wide of the leaders – and then when her customary turn-of-foot kicked-in, Lake Victoria powered up the straight to win the £409,448 first prize by 1 1/2 lengths (watch below).

This was also Lake Victoria’s first try over a mile – and has now won over 6f, 7f and 1m this season.

May Day Ready, under Frankie Dettori, and 50/1 shot Nitrogen filled the silver and bronze positions.

This Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf result was Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien’s second in the last three years – having also won the prize in 2022 with Meditate.

Moore and O’Brien didn’t end day one at the Breeders’ Cup there – as their promising 2 year-old Henri Matisse also landed the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, which was the final race on day one of the meeting.

The Ballydoyle boys will now turn their attention to the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Saturday and City Of Troy, who will be looking to give O’Brien and Moore their first wins in this top US race. You can see the race live on ITV Racing.
