Sturm Graz Vs Rangers betting tips

After a dreadful start to the 2025-26 campaign under Russell Martin, Rangers could soon find themselves sitting at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table.

Scottish Premiership giants Rangers have endured a terrible start to the new season.

Russell Martin’s arrival in the summer was initially seen as a promising appointment by many, however it has been anything but that thus far, with the Gers winless after five league matches.

They drew their first four league outings against Motherwell, Dundee, St Mirren and Celtic, and fell to a bitterly disappointing 2-0 defeat against Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

This is despite a promising start to their Champions League qualification campaign, having beaten Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen over two legs in the second and third qualifying rounds.

Rangers were eventually eliminated from Europe’s premier competition in the qualifying play-off round, like their bitter rivals Celtic, after suffering a 9-1 aggregate loss to Club Brugge.

Due to that heavy defeat, the Gers will play in the Europa League league phase this term.

Unsurprising given their dreadful performances and results, along with their seeming lack of direction, many have called on the club to part ways with Martin after just four months.

The next Rangers manager betting odds market suggests that former Everton and Burnley manager Sean Dyche is primed to replace the 39-year-old in the hot seat in Glasgow.

Rangers Could Be Bottom By The Next Time They Play

Currently sitting in 10th place in the table on four points, the 2021-22 Europa League finalists could head into their next league match occupying bottom spot if other results go against them.

This is because 11th-place Dundee (three points) and 12th-place Aberdeen (one point) each play two matches before Rangers’ next fixture in the Scottish top-flight.

Therefore, if the Dee manage a win or two draws against Livingston and/or St Mirren, and the Dons seal a win and a draw against Dundee United and Motherwell, the Gers will head into their sixth round fixture against Livingston as the 12th placed side in the table.

Rangers are priced at 250/1 to finish bottom with UK betting sites, with it largely being expected that they will recover before the end of the campaign if the above scenario is played out.

Additionally, Rangers’ relegation odds have been cut from 1000/1 to 50/1 after their poor start.

When Was The Last Time Rangers Were Bottom?

If the Gers drop down to the bottom of the table, it’ll be the first time they’ve done so since 1989.

Back in the 1989-90 season, Rangers Hall of Fame inductee Graeme Souness endured a dreadful start, with his side suffering back-to-back defeats to kickstart the campaign.

They only managed a draw in their third game, seeing them sit at the bottom of the table.

Luckily for the Glaswegians, they recovered in some style. Inspired by the likes of Mo Johnston and Ally McCoist, they pipped Aberdeen to the league title by seven clear points.

The Gers also made it to the Scottish League Cup final, where they were beaten 2-1 by the Dons.

What Next For Rangers?

Up next for Rangers, they welcome Hibernian to Ibrox in the Scottish League Cup.

The fixture takes place at 17:45 on Saturday evening, with Martin’s men looking to build on a comfortable 4-2 second round victory over Scottish Championship side Alloa.

They then get their Europa League league phase campaign underway with a home clash against Belgian Pro League outfit Genk on the following Thursday night.

Following that, the Gers return to Scottish Premiership action away at Livingston.
