British heavyweight Tom Aspinall became the undisputed champion following the retirement of Jon Jones.
Former champions Jones rang UFC CEO Dana White in June to confirm his retirement.
This prompted interim champ Aspinall to be given the undisputed title.
He becomes the third British champion after Michael Bisping and Leon Edwards.
Aspinall’s first defence of the heavyweight title will be against Ciryl Gane in October.
The Brit is currently 2/9 favourite with most UK betting sites to retain his title, while Gane is priced around 3/1.
Speaking after being given the undisputed title, Aspinall said via Instagram: “For you fans. It’s time to get this Heavyweight division going. An active Undisputed Champion”.

Who Is Tom Aspinall’s Wife?
Salford-born fighter Tom Aspinall is married to wife Justyna.
Justyna is Polish, and the pair married after spending a number of years together in a long-term relationship.
Despite Tom’s global fame, Justyna has largely avoided the spotlight and keeps away from the public eye.
Does Tom Aspinall Have Any Children?
Together, Tom and Justyna Aspinall have three children, two of whom are twins.
In 2023, Aspinall discussed one of his sons, who has been diagnosed with autism.
The 32-year-old told the BBC: “I didn’t want there to be something wrong with my son.
“But when you start to learn about autism, you learn there’s not something wrong with them. It’s just a different way that their brains work.”
He added, “We’d say his name and he would not look at you or make eye contact.”
The UFC heavyweight champion has since taken to social media to advocate for people with autism.
And he has expressed a desire to do more charity work and help raise awareness.
“I want to do some more stuff for autism because my son is autistic. It’s difficult,” he said:
“I want to get a funding thing where you can put stuff in public places that cater to autistic people, because I know what it’s like to be in a public place with an autistic kid. It can be hard.
“I want to get more funding for that. But setting up a charity is not easy.”
Tom Aspinall Next Fight
As for when Aspinall will next step foot inside the octagon, his latest fight has been confirmed for October.
He will take on No. 1 contender Ciryl Gane on Saturday, 25 October at UFC 321.
The highly-anticipated bout will take place in Abu Dhabi at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island.
Tickets for the fight went on sale in July via Ticketmaster.
