Trent Alexander-Arnold, Who's Closing in on Real Madrid Transfer, Looks On

Liverpool fans are asking who will replace Trent Alexander-Arnold after reports that the right-back has agreed to sign with Real Madrid upon the expiry of his contract at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold ‘Agrees To Join Real Madrid’

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly agreed to join Real Madrid at the end of the season.

The right-back who came through the club’s academy is one of three big-name players who are in the final year of their deals – along with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

TalkSPORT have reported that Alexander-Arnold has decided that his future lies with Liverpool.

It’s claimed that he has signed a five-year deal with wages of more than £220,000-per-week.

The move would be a major blow to the Reds given he is a boyhood fan of the club and is one of the best right-backs in the world.

Conor Bradley could fill in for Alexander-Arnold though his injury issues this season might convince Arne Slot to sign a new player for the position in the summer.

Liverpool fans are wondering who will replace Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool this summer, and SportsCasting takes a look at five options.

5 Players Who Could Replace Trent Alexander-Arnold At Liverpool

Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen)

Perhaps the most likely option to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

BILD reporter Christian Falk has claimed that Arne Slot has held talks with Frimpong over a move this summer.

Frimpong’s Leverkusen contract has a release clause worth £33m which would have to be paid in full if Liverpool do pursue a move.

However, the likes of Manchester City and Barcelona have also been linked with the 24-year-old.

Frimpong has four goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances this season.

Givairo Read (Feyenoord)

Another player who has been linked with Liverpool is Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read.

The 18-year-old – also the subject of interest from Barcelona – worked alongside Arne Slot before the manager made the switch to Liverpool.

Read has broken into the first-team this season and showed great maturity despite his young age.

He has seven assists in 27 appearances this season and could cost the Reds somewhere in the region of £20m.

Ola Aina (Nottingham Forest)

Liverpool are expected to spend big money this summer on a number of positions this summer.

So signing a free agent could be the answer to replacing Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool.

Ola Aina has played a huge role in Nottingham Forest’s push for the Champions League positions this season, but his contract is up at the end of the season.

Manchester City and Chelsea – who previously sold Aina to Torino back in 2018 – are also monitoring the 28-year-old.

Aina has two goals and one assist in 30 appearances across all competitions this season.

Vanderson (Monaco)

Liverpool have been linked with Monaco full-back Vanderson as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 23-year-old is a Brazilian international who has made 118 appearances since joining Monaco in January 2022.

He is a right-back who likes to get forward and put in crosses, as well as winning back possession with an intense press.

This season he has two goals and four assists in 34 appearances for Monaco.

Lutsharel Geertruida (RB Leipzig)

Lutsharel Geertruida was linked with Liverpool last summer as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

At the time he was playing for Feyenoord after working with Arne Slot at the Eredivisie side.

Ultimately, he joined RB Leipzig – where he has one goal and one assist in 34 appearances this season.

He is the third Dutch right-back on this list and he has made 16 international appearances for the Netherlands.

Liverpool have a good relationship with RB Leipzig – having signed Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai from the Bundesliga side.
