Virgil Van Dijk Reveals When A Decision On His Liverpool Future Will Be Revealed Amid Contract Uncertainty

The question of whether Virgil van Dijk will stay at Liverpool past the summer is on the mind of all the club’s supporters, and the Dutchman has given an update on when an announcement can be expected.
Van Dijk’s contract expires this summer and there has been no update from the club over whether he will remain at Anfield.
It has been a tough week for the defender, with Liverpool crashing out of the Champions League to PSG and losing to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
Van Dijk and his teammates will set their sights on Liverpool winning the Premier League after the international break. Arne Slot’s side currently have a 12-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
Many Liverpool fans are questioning whether Van Dijk will stay at the club and sign an extension.
The 33-year-old has given an update on his contract situation at Liverpool.
Virgil Van Dijk Reveals When He Will Provide Liverpool Contract Update
Speaking to reporters, Virgil van Dijk revealed when he will update Liverpool fans over whether he will stay at the club.
The defender said his decision would come before the end of the season, which finishes on May 25.
He said: “Before the end of the season there’s going to be news. As long as I’m fully committed and have my full focus on the task ahead, and I love the club, that’s the main thing. That’s who I am.”
The Dutchman also insisted that Liverpool ‘have to turn’ their disappointment around to ensure they win the Premier League title.
Van Dijk said: “It’s how football works: in five days you lose twice and the world is sinking. Two weeks before everything was sunshine and rainbows everywhere.
The Champions League we couldn’t get it done, this (the Carabao Cup final) we lost and the FA Cup we got knocked out. We have nine games to go and I don’t think there’s any motivation needed to try to get the job done.
“You play for the biggest prize that you work so hard for from the start of the season. No one expected us to be challenging for the Premier League. It’s the most difficult prize to get.
‘There’s a lot at stake. There are so many positive and good things to look forward to. Now everyone goes to their respective countries, play there, and hopefully stay fit. Then we get ready for Everton at home (on April 2) which is going to be tough.”
Andy Robertson Drops Van Dijk Hint
Though Liverpool fans are unsure over whether Virgil van Dijk will stay at the club, Andrew Robertson appeared to drop a hint that the Dutchman wants to stay.
Robertson was asked about the futures of Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold who are all currently set to leave if they don’t sign new deals.
As per the Liverpool Echo, he said: “We don’t know when, but it will come to an end shortly
“You see the age of the players who have been here a long time, there’s a few in our thirties.
“But lads have made it clear they want to continue here and so do we all. We’re not really looking at it as the last dance. Players come and go all the time, that’s part and parcel at every football club. We’ve lost players pretty much every year since I’ve been here.”
