NASCAR Xfinity Series The Loop 110: Qualifying, Shane van Gisbergen’s Pole Position, Lineup At Chicago Street Race

Shane van Gisbergen showed why he was favored in both NASCAR National Series events at Chicago Street Race this weekend.

Van Gisbergen captured the inaugural 2023 Cup Series event in the rain and won the Xfinity Series’ event from the pole last season at the downtown track.

On Saturday, the three-time Supercars champion earned consecutive Xfinity pole positions for The Loop 110. Van Gisbergen navigated the 12-turn, 2.14-mile course in 90.085 seconds, edging Austin Hill by two-tenths of a second.

Only nine drivers could post times within a second of van Gisbergen (-115), who was favored to win the race by FanDuel Sportsbook. At +215, he also earned the top sports-betting odds to visit Victory Lane following the Cup Series’ Grant Park 165 on Sunday.

Recognized as a street ace, van Gisbergen also topped the practice field. Rookie Connor Zilisch (+135), who drew the second-best The Loop 110 odds, clocked the second-fastest practice lap, but suffered mechanical problems on the No. 88 Chevrolet, did not qualify and will start the event P35 in a backup machine.

Kris Wright and Sage Karam did not qualify for Saturday’s race.
