A few hours from leading the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to green flag at Sonoma Raceway, Cup Series driver Shane van Gisbergen captured his fourth road-course pole position over the past two weekends.
The former three-time Supercars champion swept the two national series events at Chicago Street Race, continuing his road-course dominance.
Posting a hot qualifying lap of 95.733 mph, van Gisbergen edged runner-up Chase Briscoe (95.719 mph) for his third pole this season.
Can van Gisbergen complete another weekend sweep from the pole?
AJ Allmendinger posted the top practice lap at the 12-turn, 1.99-mile track.

NASCAR In-Season Challenge Matchups: The Great 8
The inaugural NASCAR In-Season Challenge is turning into Ty Dillon’s first personal showcase since he captured the Last Chance Qualifier race during the 2022 NASCAR Clash at the Coliseum. Dillon eventually earned a disqualification for jumping the final restart, but for a short time, Dillon’s aggressive style blitzed the circuit’s social media circles. Can he generate similar vibes?
On Sunday, the No. 32-ranked In-Season Challenge pilot will face No. 8 Alex Bowman in the tournament’s third-round, in-race contest.
Here are Sunday’s other three seeded matchups:
- Ty Gibbs (6) vs. Zane Smith (14)
- John Hunter Nemechek (12) vs. Erik Jones (20)
- Ryan Preece (15) vs. Tyler Reddick (23)
Who do you have moving on to the penultimate round in the inaugural In-Season Challenge?
