NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Fans Respond To Corey Heim Breaking Through on Short Tracks, Claiming Eero 250 At Richmond

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Corey Heim has been doing his homework.

With six wins entering Friday’s eero 250 at Richmond Raceway, the circuit points leader entered the weekend stressing over his erratic performances on short tracks.

So Heim went to work, studying ways to better navigate short tracks.

“It’s definitely not my best race track in the past, but I’ve put in a lot of work in this place,” Heim told Fox Sports after earning the pole position earlier Friday. “So far so good.”

The rest of the evening wasn’t too bad, either.

The 23-year-old Heim took the lead for good with 20 laps remaining in the circuit’s regular-season finale and cruised to his seventh win this season and first at a short track.

I didn’t think we were phenomenal, but we were good enough to be there when it counted,” said Heim, who clinched the regular-season drivers’ title. “I didn’t feel like, me personally, I was very good.

“The 98 (Ty Majeski’s machine) was the best truck. I’ve been inconsistent (on short tracks). This one redeems that a little bit.”

At 22 years old, Heim, who led 75 laps Friday, became the youngest driver in series history to compile 18 wins.
