Layne Riggs In NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ Playoff Planning Stage; Corey Heim Earns Top Drivers’ Championship Odds

Layne Riggs can start planning for the second round of the playoffs.

Layne rallied from a first-lap spin to take the lead 142 rotations later. The 23-year-old driver ended up leading for 110 laps and earned his third win of the season by 0.759 seconds over runner-up Ben Rhodes.

Riggs sits in second place in the playoff standings as he and points behind leader Corey Heim qualified for the Round of 8. Heim (-150) remains the overwhelming sports-betting favorite to capture the circuit’s 2025 championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Heim is coming off his first Cup Series top-six finish at Bristol last Sunday.

Spire Motorsports Set For Magic Mile Debut

In its first appearance at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Spire Motorsports remains poised to field three machines for Saturday’s debut.

The Mooresville, N.C.-based organization will have Nos. 7 (Patrick Emerling), 71 (Rajah Caruth) and 77 (Corey LaJoie) competing in the Round of 10 finale.

A NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour standout, Emerling will make his fifth career circuit start. He previously recorded a P24 at NHMS. He will also compete in this weekend’s modified event.

“I have run back-to-back races at New Hampshire before,” Emerling said. “It’s not too bad. I am really excited to run double duty again.”

The Truck Series has not appeared at NHMS since 2017.
