Iga Swiatek Wins 25th Career WTA Title Over Weekend. Where Does That Put Her In Tennis History?

While tennis fans were watching the Billie Jean King Cup and Laver Cup over the weekend, some impressive things happened at the WTA 500 Korea Open. We saw a winning reunion of the Czech powerhouse team of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, and Iga Swiatek won her 25th career WTA title, at the age of 24.

Swiatek has rebounded from a rough 2024 in the best of ways. Winning the 2025 Wimbledon Championships freed her to be confident, not overthink, and just play. Prior to that win, she seemed mentally exhausted and distracted when things were not going well in matches. That’s not the case anymore. She defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in Seoul in come from behind fashion and admitted that she was just trying to stay in the match as Alexandrova played so well.

Now that Iga has clinched her 25th career title, where does that put her among her peers of this generation and the previous one?

Iga Swiatek Is Ahead Of Her Peers

Among the 2025 Grand Slam winners: Madison Keys, Coco Gauff, Swiatek, and Aryna Sabalenka, Swiatek has the most titles. In second is Sabalenka with 21 while Keys and Gauff both have 10.

Gauff is the youngest of the group at 21, with Sabalenka at 27 and Keys at 30.

Swiatek is in the middle of her prime years and can certainly win more.

Serena Williams Is Still The Benchmark

While 25 is an impressive number, it is worth noting that Serena Williams retired with 75 career WTA titles. Venus Williams has 49.

Swiatek is half way to Venus’s mark and 1/3 of the way to Serena’s. Given the vast amount of talent in the WTA right now, with any seeded player capable of winning any WTA tournament, it is hard to say how Swiatek will fare. Hopefully, she has a long and healthy career ahead where she can compete at the highest level and earn many more titles.
