NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ecosave 250: Qualifying, Corey Heim’s 7th Pole Position, Lineup At Charlotte Road Course

In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ first qualifying session at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, it’s little surprise that regular-season champion Corey Heim again will start on the inside of the front row for Friday’s Round of 8 opening event.

Heim, the regular-season champion with a rookie-record nine wins, turned in a hot qualifying lap of 96.492 mph, edging runner-up Layne Riggs by 0.204 seconds. Heim collected his seventh pole position this season.

Riggs experienced technical difficulties while turning practice laps and missed more than 10 minutes of the scheduled 50-minute session at the 17-turn, 2.28-mile track.

Heim has visited Victory Lane following the previous four road course races, a Truck Series record. In 181 combined road-course laps this season, Heim has led 143 rotations.

The ROVAL is slated to become the 57th track – and 10th road course – to stage a Truck Series race. Friday’s race also marks just the third road course playoff race, following 2018 and ‘19 events at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
