NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ Connor Mosack may be falling behind in the 2025 rookie standings, trailing Gio Ruggiero by 143 points through 22 of 25 events, but the non-playoff pilot continues to learn to run with the lead pack.
As regular-season champion Corey Heim continued his assault on the circuit with his record 10th win last Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, Mosack posted a P10, his fourth top-10 finish this season. He ranks No. 14 in the drivers’ standings.
The Truck Series sits idle this week and will resume Round of 8 racing at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 17. Heim (-160) remains the sports-betting favorite to capture the drivers’ championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Known as a road course ace, Mosack reflected on his effort at the 17-turn, 2.28-mile track. Recovering from a collision, he returned P23 on Lap 24 and steadily gained momentum. Starting the third stage in eighth position, Mosack ventured to P5 by Lap 64.
The No. 81 Chevrolet team elected to remain on the track to gain track position and a front-row position for the overtime restart. Mosack’s machine failed to keep up with teams on fresher tires.
“It ultimately wasn’t the result we were looking for, or felt like we deserved, but I felt like we put a solid day together from start to finish,” Mosack said via MHR press release. “We were probably going to finish fifth or sixth, but we had to take a shot at it on that green-white-checkered (flag) when everyone pitted. You never know what can happen and thought it was worth the gamble. It didn’t pan out like we wanted.”
Connor Mosack rallied back up through the field for a top-five at the Roval for JR Motorsports. He reflects on tonight, as well as his season.#NASCAR pic.twitter.com/pSsobT0q82
