Former college football coach-turned-broadcaster Nick Saban called Ohio State fans “psychotic.”
The No. 1-ranked Buckeyes appear primed for a run at back-to-back CFP Championships, but what are most fans focused on?
No. 15 Michigan and four consecutive defeats to the “Team Up North.”
Last season’s loss as a 21-point favorite at Ohio Stadium, left the program stunned, but only temporarily. They rebounded in a big way and their cruise continued through the regular season.
Until now.
A majority of Ohio State’s fans remain laser-focused on ending the four-year losing streak Saturday at Michigan Stadium.
“I said it last year. These Ohio State fans, they’re psychotic about this, man,” said Saban, who claimed seven national titles during his career. “They all need to go to see a doctor some place. I’d rather win the national championship than beat Michigan.
“That’s just me.”
But that’s not them, apparently.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Saban explained how he approached “big games.”
“I tried to minimize the noise knowing that the players are hearing all these things,” Saban said. “What I wanted our players to do to think that it was going to be about what we do. So let’s focus on what we do to have to go execute and play our best football in the game, and things will take care of themselves.”
The Buckeyes (+175) remain the Week 14 sports-betting favorite to claim the CFP Championship, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. Indiana (+475) drew the second-best odds.
The Wolverines were tabbed with +7500 odds.
