After an off game against the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford reclaimed the status of sports-betting favorite to claim the 2025 NFL MVP.
With 35 touchdown passes and four interceptions, Stafford became the league’s third signal-caller to reach those meteoric stats in a team’s opening 13 games. New England Patriots’ Tom Brady (2007) and Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers were the first two QBs to reach the milestone.
Stafford, who threw two costly interceptions during the Week 134 upset loss to the host Panthers, rebounded to lead the Rams (10-3) past the overmatched Arizona Cardinals, 45-17, last Sunday.
Stafford, 37, enjoyed one of his better outings during his 17-year career,
“That’s our guy, No. 9,” receiver Puka Nacua said, as reported by The Associated Press. “Without him, we wouldn’t be operating the way we do. It’s always fun when we get to show him some praise.”
BetOnline Sportsbook also continues to sing Stafford’s praises, listing him as the 2025 NFL MVP sports-betting favorite with -195 odds. Last week’s favorite, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (+200), fell to second.
Two preseason MVP favorites, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, were dropped from the listing.
With 5,441 career completions, Stafford remains 11 shy of passing Matt Ryan for sixth all-time in league history.
With four regular-season games remaining, Stafford could threaten his league-record 41 touchdown passes he established during his Super Bowl-winning 2021 campaign.
Stafford embraced the friendly MVP chants he heard Sunday.
“It’s fun, they’re great teammates,” Stafford said. “(The) only reason anyone is saying something like that about me is because of those guys. I’m appreciative.
“I love going to work with them.”
