NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Carson Kvapil does not want to be overlooked by his JR Motorsports teammates, Connor Zilisch, Justin Allgaier and Sammy Smith.
The trio is locked into the 12-team playoffs. While Kvapil remains 131 points above the cutoff line and is virtually assured of a provisional spot if he does not claim the checkered flag Saturday at World Wide Technology Raceway, the rookie seeks to win his way into the postseason. Zilisch paces the circuit with eight wins, while Allgaier posted three trips to Victory Lane and Smith one.
“I’m really looking forward to heading out to (Gateway) and getting in some laps on another new track,” Kvapil said via press release. “I know we will unload a fast piece. We’re still hunting for that first win.”
The regular-season finale will be Kvapil’s first race at the 1.25-mile flat oval.
At 22 years old, Kvapil ranks sixth in quality passes, according to NASCAR Loop Data.
For Allgaier, Gateway could be considered his “home” track. Well, at least he’ll be “racing close to home,” Allgaier said. “To be able to have friends and family here means the world.”
Despite racing with a broken collarbone, Zilisch (+150) was tabbed with the top sports-betting odds to capture the drivers’ championship, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. Allgaier (+200) earned the second-best odds.
