Matthew Stafford can finally say it. The Los Angeles Rams quarterback, for the first time in his 17-year NFL journey, can boast a .500 career record, per ESPN Research.
With the Rams gutting out a defensive-dominated win over the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday, Stafford improved to 116-115-1 in his career. The 2009 No. 1 overall draft pick spent his first 12 seasons with the downtrodden Detroit Lions, who qualified for the playoffs just three times during his tenure.
Stafford is 41-25 since joining the Rams, including a 2021 Super Bowl title.
Guided by Stafford’s recent record-setting effort, the NFC South-leading Rams (8-2) have won five straight and take control of the division. Over his past seven starts, Stafford, who has emerged as a top 2025 NFL MVP candidate, posted 22 touchdown passes with zero interceptions, one of the top streaks in league history.
According to BetOnline Sportsbook, Stafford (+130) ranks as the sports-betting favorite to earn the players’ top regular-season honor. New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye (+175) drew the second-best odds. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (+400) rounded out the top QB trifecta.
Stafford led the Rams to a 21-19 win over the Seahawks (7-3) despite throwing for a season-low 130 yards and guiding the offense to just 249 yards.
“We found a way to win without playing perfect football against a really good team,” Stafford said, as reported by The Associated Press. “Our defense played outstanding. They deserve to be partying like crazy.”
Stafford, meanwhile, can finally say he’s an above-.500 QB.
