CFP Championship Odds: Ohio State Remains On Top, Preps For Rival Michigan

With Ohio State cruising toward a 42-9 rout of visiting Rutgers last Saturday, Ryan Day likely failed to enjoy the Senior Day moment. The Buckeyes coach understood what was next: Michigan.

As the Wolverines overwhelmed the Maryland Terrapins, 45-20, coach Sharrone Moore breathed a sigh of relief following a near-complete road performance.

Are the Wolverines (9-2 overall, 7-1 Big Ten), one of the youngest programs in the Big Ten, rounding into form in time to challenge the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes (11-0, 8-0)?

Day, who has dropped four consecutive games to “the team up North,” likely turned his attention to the Wolverines during the fourth quarter last Saturday.

“We know this is the last game of the year and what it means to everybody here,” Day said, as reported by @wsyx6. “There was a good look in everybody’s eyes in the locker room.

“We’re excited about this one.”

Sports bettors remain excited about the Buckeyes’ chances to claim back-to-back CFP Championships. BetOnline Sportsbook tagged them with +175 odds to win the title game Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Indiana (+475) drew the second-best odds, while Notre Dame and Texas A&M were tagged with identical +800 odds. Michigan (+7500) remains a long shot.

But don’t tell that to the Buckeyes, who must travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., after losing last season at home as 21-point favorites.

“It’s been on our minds since we lost it last year. The week is here. It’s finally here,” Ohio State defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr. said, via CBS Detroit. “We’ve been preparing real hard for this week and it’s here.”
